Appeals Procedure for GCSEs 2020

It was fantastic to see our young people collect their results this morning. Congratulations on your exemplary behaviour and conduct in these challenging times. Great to see so many smiling faces!

Today, Qualification Wales released a statement with regards to the appeals process linked to this year’s results. You can read the full statement below:

Qualification Wales Appeals Statement

As I stated yesterday in my letter to Year 11, the Centre Assessed Grades were assembled with the utmost diligence and care; using a range of robust evidence for each pupil. Each pupil’s grade in each subject was very carefully considered. The results pupils received today were the ‘best’ of either the Centre Assessed Grade or the standardised grade given by the board, so essentially the higher of the two.

Whilst we are very confident that our Centre Assessed Grades represent a fair and balanced set of results across the school, we will of course work through any questions/matters arising with our pupils and wider community. But it must be clearly stated, that any official appeal to the exam board must meet the criteria set out in the documentation above. Any queries/questions should be emailed to:

Once again, I’d like to congratulate our young people and wish them every success in their future endeavours.

Best wishes,
Mrs Davies Jones
